Your Safety

Your safety, and the safety of our crew and craft, are paramount.

One thing we can’t control is the weather. Rain we can cope with, but both the wind and river conditions might very occasionally affect our ability to sail.

The river conditions on this part of the River Thames are closely monitored by the Environment Agency who issue warnings for adverse river conditions. We follow their recommendations in all cases. Should we not be able to sail, you have the option of still enjoying your day with us on the boat while safely tied up, or we will postpone your sailing to another date, or issue a full refund.

Safety is the responsibility of our Skipper and their decision is final. They will take the decision on whether to sail and how far we can travel.

From the Environment Agency Website

When these red boards are displayed on lock gates, the Environment Agency advises users of all boats not to navigate. The strong flows make it difficult and dangerous.

When these yellow boards are displayed on lock gates, the Environment Agency advises users of powered boats to find a safe mooring. River flows are likely to strengthen, and strong stream boards could be displayed very soon and without further warning.

When these yellow boards are displayed on lock gates, the Environment Agency advises users of powered boats to navigate with caution.
